For Code Ocean, reproducibility in bioinformatics depends on one thing: the ability to share complete “capsules” of data, compute environments, and code. Before the launch of version 4, the team wanted a refreshed brand identity that better reflected their maturity and focus - sharper, more minimalist, and better aligned with their growing enterprise presence. The visual system had to balance technical precision with creative flexibility and be adaptable across both product and marketing channels.

The three pillars of the Code Ocean capsule inspired an expanded palette of primary and secondary colors. Every combination was tested for accessibility, ensuring clarity in everything from small interface elements to large-scale marketing visuals. Designed for accessibility and consistency across UI components, hover states, and social assets alike, booths, posters, and more, it had to be flexible across digital and print use.

With conference materials in mind, I developed a scalable wave-like pattern motif that became the cornerstone of the new identity. It represents Code Ocean’s guiding role amid the complexity of modern data science.
